DadStuff: The Tie Object Lesson

Verse: “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12

The tie is an object we often identify with dads. It’s the centerpiece of dad’s work or church outfit. But the tie is called a tie because of one special feature: the knot.

There are different kinds of knots for ties: the Windsor, the Half Windsor, the Shell Knot, etc. (It’d be great if you could demonstrate the different kinds of knots.) All these knots, however, share one common thing: they all have to be tied.

Just like this tie is tied to dad’s neck, through Jesus, we are tied to God. Through Jesus, we become God’s children.

When we invite Jesus to be Lord of our lives, we are permanently bonded to His family with God as our heavenly Father. And just like the tie, we, along with our spiritual brothers and sisters, are the centerpiece of God’s love and enjoyment.

Use the following trick to demonstrate that the bond that we have to God can only exist through one source: Jesus.
